Three Bold Ventures: The History of North Oaks

Picture
Three Bold Ventures, all so different and all occurring on the land that is now the city of North Oaks, documents Charles Gilfillan's and James J. Hill's ventures.  The third bold venture was Louis W. Hill, Jr.'s development of North Oaks Farm starting in 1950 into a residential community with emphasis on the retention of the natural environment. Written by long time residents Joan Brainard and Richard Leonard, this 230 page coffee table book has over 250 photos and maps to enhance the text.

To purchase the book "Three Bold Ventures: The History of North Oaks", you can check availability on Amazon.com.  The first printing of the book has sold out, but online retailers may still have copies available for purchase.  You can also check at worldcat.org for libraries that have this book in their collection.

Reviews of Three Bold Ventures: The History of North Oaks

"I am blown away by your final product.  A lot of histories are rather boring, since they mostly involve writing.  But you've mixed in so many great pictures and maps that it makes the book a real page turner.  The visuals are extremely well laid out, very colorful and helpful in relating the subject matter."  ~ Sherrill Cloud, former North Oaks resident
