How did Farm Fest get started?
Farm Fest began as an event called Heritage Days in the early years of the Hill Farm Historical Society (HFHS). Activities included square dancing, a log-sawing competition, and foot races. The Saint Croix Horse and Carriage Society brought horses and wagons to give residents a turn-of-the-century experience over designated roads in North Oaks. The horses and their wagons were well received; after some strategic shoveling, extra fertilizer was even available for some local gardens.
How does Farm Fest work?
Farm Fest is hosted by HFHS. HFHS’s Board of Directors is responsible for the many hours required to plan and prepare the event, and local volunteers are instrumental is helping make the day fun for our families, neighbors, and friends. You can purchase tickets for food, drink, and games; tickets can be paid for with cash or credit cards. Many activities—such as tours of the historic buildings, live music, and a magician are free of charge. HFHS members receive five free tickets to use at Farm Fest. To join or renew your membership, please visit our join/donate page.
Where and when is Farm Fest?
Come to the Hill Farm site from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 8th. Parking is available at the West Recreation Center
